Maria Thomas
Staff Counselor – Intern

Maria Thomas is a Counselor Intern currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Abilene Christian University. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology, with a minor in Spanish, from North Georgia College and State University.
Maria’s clinical interests were shaped through her work with Laurelwood Hospital and Avita Community Partners, where she gained experience supporting individuals with a variety of mental health needs. She is a student member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a member of the Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Society.
Maria works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, with a particular interest in serving the Hispanic community. She offers counseling in both English and Spanish, based on client preference.
Her approach to therapy is collaborative and individualized, with a focus on creating a supportive environment where clients feel understood and respected as they work toward growth and healing.
Maria is under the supervision of Dr. Dan Sartor, Clinical Psychologist and Director of Outpatient Counseling at The Wings Center.
